汉明帝夜梦金人
During the reign of Emperor Han of the Eastern Han Dynasty, according to the Book of the Later Han Dynasty, Ming Di dreamed of a golden man flying between the palaces at night. The next day, he asked his ministers about the meaning of this dream, and a learned man replied that it was a western Buddha.
Therefore, Ming Di sent messengers to the Western Regions (present-day Central Asia), invited two Indian monks-Kaya Morten and Zhu Falan, and brought Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues. The two monks established the first official temple in the history of China-Baima Temple in Luoyang, marking the official introduction of Buddhism into China. This story is regarded as a landmark event of the origin of Buddhism in China.
